Coach Jon Allen has 20 years of coaching experience primarily as the head swim coach at Eastside High School. Coach Allen grew up swimming for the Blue Dolfins and legendary coach Harry Meisel in Orlando. He competed for Orlando Edgewater as a high school student-athlete where he was a state qualifier and medalist.
Coach Allen attended the University of Florida where he studied Environmental Science and Interdisciplinary Ecology. After a semester of participating in walk-on practices with the UF team, he decided to focus on school. The following year he met his beautiful wife Amanda. The year leading up to their wedding, and after a less-than-stellar experience interning at an engineering firm, Coach Allen decided to apply for a teaching job at Eastside High School. He thought teaching would be a temporary one-year job while his wife finished graduate school, 20 years later he’s still part of the Ram family. When hired at EHS, the principal discovered he was a former swimmer and offered him the head coaching job. In his second year the Rams won their first ever District title.
At Eastside, Coach Allen has since led the Rams boys and girls teams to a combined 21 District Championships, 8 Region Championships and the 2009 FHSAA State Championship. He has coached 8 NISCA All-Americans, 8 FHSAA State Champions and 23 school record holders.
Coach Jon Allen has been married to his wonderful wife, Amanda, for 18 years. His two children, Ansley and Logan, swim for the Makos. He is excited to contribute to the Makos coaching staff.
